American pony cars past and present duel on this week’s edition of Drag Race Tuesdays.

Carroll Shelby and the Ford Mustang have a famous and storied history. The Shelby Cobra is one of the hallmarks of the iconic designer’s work and the 1968 GT 350 to this day remains a favorite of American muscle enthusiasts. To see how it fares against a more modern Mustang, the RoadTestTV crew pitted it against a 2012 Mustang Boss 302. The ’68 Shelby Cobra GT 350 packed a 4.9-liter V8 rated at 235 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque for a top speed of 140 mph, relatively tame by today’s standards but bonkers in its day.

Pitted against the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 with its 444-horsepower 5.0-liter Coyote engine, one would think the classic Ford wouldn’t stand a chance. But that’s where one would be wrong.
