Video: Aventador pulls down SLS AMG roadster’s pants

The crew over at Hennessey Performance has just released a terrific video of a one mile drag race pitting the Lamborghini Aventador against the Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS Roadster. The Aventador, owned by NFL star Mario Williams, looks to cement its place at the top of the supercar food chain against the venerable roadster, owned by Mario Mendia of My Fit Foods.
The Lamborghini Aventador boasts a 6.5-liter V12 producing 700 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Bruce Wayne’s ride of choice in the latest Dark Knight movie can jump off the line to 60 mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds, run the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds at 133mph and on to a top-speed of 217 mph.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster takes its motivation in the form of a 6.2-liter V8 with 571 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, hitting 60 in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 197mph. It doesn’t seem like much of a fair matchup, with the Lamborghini having an extra 130hp on tap. Imagine the Hennessey Venom against the Aventador. Now that’s a man’s race.
