The Switzer Performance “Red Katana” GT-R is one powerful daily driver.

Switzer Performance’s epic R1K-X Nissan GT-R has been featured on CarBuzz before, but now we have the official video of its devastating quarter-mile run, driven by owner John Shepherd.

The Oberlin, Ohio-based tuning shop has added a plethora of goodies to the GT-R, including extensive work on Godzilla’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 that, on race fuel, now produces a mind-blowing 1,400-horsepower. While other tuners have worked to reduce the car’s weight, this particular GT-R is is actually 300 lbs heavier than stock, thanks largerly to an upgraded interior from C2Design of Tampa, Florida. Even with the extra cowhide, Shepherd’s “Red Katana” GT-R ran the quarter-mile in less than 9 seconds.
