If your only exposure to import “tuning” in the nineties/early naughties was that neighbor kid with the fart can exhaust and giant wing on his otherwise stock Civic, then you were probably left wondering what all the fuss was about in the first place.

Well, it’s cars like this old Integra which led the charge for Japanese four bangers in those days, a car which can hit 8.6 secs @174 in the quarter mile; it’s what that neighbor kid was aiming for. The car has a four-cylinder engine, no launch control, an old fashioned stick and front-wheel-drive.

But it is unquestionably quick, and that’s why people still love these cars.
