Video: German journalist get revenge on his crappy Chinese knock-off BMW X5 SUV

If there is one thing I’m all but certain of, it’s that Germans are very intolerant of poor build quality.

There’s a well-ingrained reason why German engineering is world renowned: you name it, and if a German has anything to do with it’s creation you can rest assured that they have put everything they have towards perfecting it. Watches. Chocolate. Techno music. Aircraft. Automobiles. Beer. Everything.

The SUV in this clip is not German, it only looks like one. This is the Shuanghaun CEO, and it looks like the love child of a BMW X5 and a Kia Sportage. There isn’t much pleasant to that thought in the first place, but this has been a controversial SUV from it’s creation. The design smacks hard enough of the first generation BMW X5 that the company attempted to have sales of the CEO blocked in the EU.

Unfortunately, that didn’t pan out, but the knock-off wasn’t that popular. Still, one automotive journalist, Wolfgang Blaube. I don’t speak any German, but what is apparent is that after 100,000km (62,000mi) the CEO became an absolute rot-box, the kind of which would make a first-year Dodge Aspen look like amateur hour. This thing looks like it was loaned to Top Gear and they tried to repeat the “park the truck in the English Channel” trick.

It’s obvious that Blabue is not impressed with his CEO, and over the course of the video he lives out pretty much every evil thing anyone would want to do to a car short of shooting the damn thing. He does break out the dynamite though, so all is well in his world…well, after he regains his hearing.

Just watch and you’ll see what I mean.
