Video: The aftermath of the McLaren F1 crash is worse than the accident
AdvertisementThat sound you hear is millions of dollars’ worth of supercar carbon fiber being scraped against the trunk of a tree.
It’s positively upsetting to see and nauseating to hear despite knowing that these things are so valuable (and fantastic to drive, as our Executive Editor Sam Smith found out recently) that it’ll undoubtedly be rebuilt.
Still, they’ll have their work cut out for them. As the video shows, there’s substantial damage to the passenger side, including those wonderfully quirky luggage compartments in front of the rear wheels. There’s also damage to the undertray and the hood. And then there’s the damage caused by yanking it off the tree. On second thought, there’s not much that looks undamaged. This is going to be expensive.
