Video: Thermal video of a F1 car melting tires is the best thing you’ll see today

How is the whole world not watching F1 races shot with thermal cameras every weekend? I don’t want just this one clip from infrared camera maker FLIR. I WANT IT ALL.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll watch the hypnotic curls of hot exhaust gasses pouring out of a F1 car on regular ol’ high speed TV footage and be impressed. Doubly so if the action is as intense as it was this weekend. But seeing the action in slow motion thermal detail? Totally mind blowing.

The best part of this video is the Red Bull Racing RB8 dragging stripes of smoldering molten tire in great plasma arcs behind it. It’s like an F1 lava lamp. Man, I’ve watched that little section of video three times now, and it’s not getting any less cool. Which leads me to wonder: What next?
