Volkswagen Golf Mk5 GTI “Pink Lady” by Color & Shine
AdvertisementThought Golf GTI is limited to the ABT parts catalog? Think again, nobody likes a Golf GTI that looks exactly like every other hot hatch out there, though some take things a little too far.
“Pink Lady” is the world of a German wrap company called Color and Shine, who decided pastels and stickerbomb were the perfect combination for this classic sports hatch. While we’re not completely sold on the idea, it is 100% original and probably the only pink car in Germany with serious performance.
As the story goes, owner Peter wanted to do something special for his old GTI, which he wanted to give to his girlfriend. The template came from another stickerbomb GTI, the green Mk6 which belonged to his old friend Andreas Rosch, who just happened to have a company that specializes in wrapping.
The Golf 5 is widely believed to be the turing point for Volkswagen. This is especially true for the GTI version, which for the first time became available with a meaty 2-liter TSI engine and optional DSG twin-clutch gearbox. There’s also something different about the design, something later Golf models never had.
The Mk5 GTI is without a doubt THE most popular modern classic in Germany for the reasons we stated above. And unlike cars from the 60s or 70s, the owners rarely keep the stock look. We can’t wait to see this pink lady at this year’s Worthersee GTI meet!
